  • If the aluminum heat shield has melted, you have kept the Looftlighter too close to the fire. Looft Industries provides a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase and only comprises manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover self caused issues like melting the front of the Looftlighter. This problem does seldom effect the functionality of the Looftlighter, mere the looks of it. Looft Industries does not replace the Looftlighter if it still works.

  • If your Looftlighter won’t start we have a 2 year warranty covering manufacturing defects. It is not allowed to open up the Looftlighter for repair or modification due to our safety standards. If your Looftlighter is broken, contact your retailer and refer to your receipt.

  • NO, you do not need and should never use lighter fluid, lighter cubes, pre-drenched charcoal or any other chemicals to light a barbecue or hearth fire. The chemicals contribute to CO2 emissions, they are dangerous and could add a bad taste to the food. The Looftlighter is a green and eco-friendly product compared to using chemicals.

  • With the Looftlighter you light a barbecue in 60 seconds. You can then leave the charcoal to get ready on it’s own (takes approximately 20 minutes) or you can continue using the Looftlighter and fast-forward the process, which makes the charcoal ready in 4-5 minutes depending on the quality of the charcoal.

  • The Looftlighter consumes 1800 W (EU) and 1500 W (U.S) for an hours use. But since the Looftlighter isn’t used more than a few minutes each time the cost is low. Approximately 0,003€/minute ($0,004/minute).

  • We highly recommended to use high quality charcoal. This will result in faster lighting, less sparks and a more steady cooking temperature. If you use briquettes the lighting time will be a bit longer. Briquettes are made from charcoal powder compressed with corn starch which will also result in more smoke. Please see Small Charcoal School for more information

  • Briquettes are made from charcoal powder compressed with corn starch and depending on how hard they are compressed, the time to light them differs.

  • Yes you can. The Looftlighter is designed for both outdoor and indoor use. It is optimal for lighting your hearth fire, wood burner or iron stove. Tip: The Looftlighter is perfect to ”pre heat” the chimney for say 30 seconds before lighting the wood.

  • No. It is not allowed to open up the Looftlighter for repair or modification due to our safety standards. If your Looftlighter is broken, contact your retailer and refer to your receipt.
